A talk on Saturday 18th June 2011 at 1:00pm
at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow as part of
Summer School
Transmission is proud to announce a weeklong ‘Summer School’ made up of practical workshops, talks, screenings, discussions and more. All events are free and open to everyone, full details can be found listed in the timetable downloadable from this page (click on the 'Summer School' link above the image). Much of the programme has been arranged in response to suggestions and requests from Transmission members, we have also tried to allow enough flexibility for participants to initiate spontaneous activities and discussions during the week.
Alongside this, there will be a series of four plenary sessions, which will directly address the underlying concerns of ‘Summer School’, namely the privatisation and homogenisation of higher education and the possibility of resistance through self-organised structures.
Throughout the week the committee will strive to create an active and responsive environment, simply providing the resources and organisational support necessary for participants to shape the syllabus themselves. This project aims to:
-Provide free access to expertise and information requested by Transmission’s membership.
-Encourage collaboration, exchange and cooperation between artists and activists working towards similar goals, using diverse methods, in different locations.
-Open up discussion of the issues facing education in the current political and economic climate
